Imagine a walking holiday in Dalmatia....

with its beautiful coast line, dramatic mountain range, medieval towns, quaint bays and stunning vineyards, Croatia's Peljesac peninsula is the perfect location for walking and wine tasting holidays to suit all needs. Walkers are able to soak in the rich heritage of the area by following one of the many coastline walks to the sleepy village of Viganj and archaeological site of Nakovana dating back to 6000 BC or to the main town of Orebic with its wonderful promenade which bears witness to its once rich maritime past.

If you have something more strenuous in mind you can take one of the recommended trails up to Mt Illja and enjoy spectacular views.

The Old Town of Korcula on the island of Korcula opposite the birth place of Marco Polo, is one of the best preserved medieval towns of the Mediterranean. Settled in the early prehistoric period the town of Ston has a 5.5 km wall, the largest in Europe. Here are some of the oldest salt works where salt is still produced in the traditional way it has been done since ancient times. Mali or Small Ston is renowned for its farming of oysters, muscles and other shellfish and has been since Roman times.

Here are some suggested walks and trips. These can be tailor-made to meet your specific requirements. All walks may be 3, 5 or 7 days, guided, self guided or a bit of both.

Day 1
Collect from Dubrovnik airport. Depending on the arrival time, a steady drive to Perna where you will be staying, making various view stops along the way OR a guided tour of the Old Town of Dubrovnik, the jewel of the Adriatic. You can walk the city wall and then take a guided tour through the Old Town. Leave for Perna around 4.30 pm and arrive around 6.30 pm.

Day 2
A walk along the coast to the village of Viganj and to the ancient archaeological site of the village of Nakovan. Then to the view point –spectacular view of Korcula and Korcula Old Town. Lunch at the panorama restaurant then walk to the Monastery to enjoy the sun setting over Korcula.

Day 3
Take a boat trip to the Venetian Old Town on the island of Korcula. A guided tour of the old town and lunch. Enjoy an afternoon walk to Orebic OR Enjoy one of the water adventure sports.

Day 4
Follow the wine road by car or coach to Kuna and Potmje to the Dingac winery. Go through the tunnel to the coast to walk amongst some of the most dramatic vine yards on the slopes of this mountain.

Day 5
Drive to Trestenik to the winery and then to Stone. Walk the wall of this ancient walled Old Town and explore the salt flats and take a walk to Mali stone to enjoy lunch of oysters and mussels with a local wine. To the airport and return flight home OR return to the Villa.

Day 6
Walk up to Mount Ilija - a full day with picnic half way up the mountain. You can go as far as you wish and wait for the party to return.

Day 7
Drive back to the airport, stopping at the botanical gardens of Tresteno to enjoy the lovely views over the Elphitii islands of Lopud and Sipan.
